The aspirations for a rule based international order that underpins VDPA can be achieved and contemporary challenges addressed by adhering to the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.
- By implementing the Vienna Declaration and Program of Action (VDPA), the international community can reaffirm its commitment to the cause of human rights and at the same time effectively support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- We consider that democracy, development and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms are interdependent and mutually reinforcing.Without achieving inclusive and equitable development both nationally and internationally, we cannot achieve our objective of “ensuring Human Dignity for all”. In the context of inclusive and equitable development, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) stands out. It is a unique example of international cooperation for shared progress, prosperity and the realization of right to development.
- The VDPA has made important pronouncements on the right to self determination and on people under foreign occupation. The international community must arduously work for the freedom of all people anywhere in the world. Surely, we cannot let this century be a century of servitude and slavery.
I thankyou Mr. President.
