We are making this right of reply in response to India’s statement.
- It is regrettable that India has once again resorted to baseless rhetoric against Pakistan. Such accusations cannot hide India’s crimes against humanity in Kashmir, or prevent Pakistan from voicing its support for Kashmiri people.
- India cannot unilaterally alter that status of Jammu and Kashmir, which is recognized as a disputed territory by the UN Security Council resolutions and the international community. Raising the issue of India’s illegal occupation of Kashmir and its human rights violations there, is neither an interference in India’s internal affairs nor an infringement of its sovereignty.
- India cannot hide behind the global concerns on terrorism each time the issue of human rights violations in Kashmir is brought up. The sources of instability and violence in Indian Occupied Kashmir are indigenous. At the heart of this instability are India’s own brutal policies which has converted the entire occupied territory into a large prison. Indian Occupied Kashmir today has the world’s highest concentration of military deployments including along the Line of Control (LOC) dividing IOK and Azad Kashmir. India has also fenced the entire LOC with barbed wires. How can terrorists slip through such barriers? Pakistan has also called for strengthening the UN Military Observer Group to perform their mandated tasks of monitoring the LOC. However,India does not allow UNMOGIP to perform its mandated task.
Similarly, the OHCHR Report on Kashmir recommends establishing a Commission of Inquiry, which gives India a platform to prove that sources of instability in Kashmir are related to terrorism. It is intriguing that India rejects all neutral mechanisms to substantiate its terrorism related charges. India’s abject rejection of the Commission of Inquiry and other neutral mechanisms are a testament that charges of terrorism are untenable and that India fears an independent investigation, which will inevitably expose its crimes against the Kashmiri people.
India also hurls a charge of terrorism on Pakistan. In Pakistan, terrorism has been defeated and its proponents are incarcerated. This is in contrast to India, where terrorists and extremists have gone on to make a political career through extremist organizations like RSS, Bajrang Dal and Shiv Sena. A senior political figure of the ruling party Lal Singh, who was accused of supporting the Kathua gangrape and murder case just yesterday gave threatening remarks against Kashmiri journalists. The current leadership in India has lead the country on the dangerous lines of racism, hatred and violent extremism. They kill Christian priests and vandalize churches. Just last week a Muslim farmer, Mr. Qasim was lynched to death and his friend Mr. Samiuddin seriously injured in UP on charges of carrying beef as police watched with no action.
Where else in the world would a member of minority be lynched to death for carrying meat or professing their faith. Isnt that Incredible? Yes that’s Incredible but that’s India.
I thank you Mr. President.
