We fully support the work of the Special Rapporteur on right to education and thank him for the presentation of his report.
- Education is the single most important enabler for the promotion and protection of all other human rights especially in the case of vulnerable segments of the society. We need to give utmost importance to the Sustainable development Goal related to education and work both nationally as well as internationally for its fulfilment.
- In Pakistan, our commitment to education is visible from the fact that our education budget has been increasing incrementally and has gone up by an average of 17.5% every year since 2010. The provinces have allocated around 24% of their budgets for education. We are working arduously on standardizing curricula and equipping schools with necessary infrastructure.
- We thank the Special Rapporteur on international solidarity for the presentation of his report. We believe that the themes underlined in his report for his future work including migration, climate change, refugees, role of civil society, South-South cooperation, technology and innovation, the function of cities and local government and economic security are pivotal in enhancing international solidarity especially in current turbulent times.
- We believe that international solidarity can be promoted in practical terms by supporting each other’s efforts for achieving sustainable development goals. In this regard, full realization of goal 17 of 2030 Agenda and operationalization of Green Climate Fund are essential.
I thank you.
