A meeting was held today between Ambassador Farukh Amil, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN in Geneva, and Mr. Rashid M. Khalikov, Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Partnerships with the Middle East and Central Asia.
The two recalled their past association in New York and Pakistan, where Mr. Khalikov led UN relief efforts in 2005 and 2010. Ambassador Amil commended Mr. Khalikov for his excellent humanitarian service during the 2010 great flood in Pakistan. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment towards forging a strong partnership with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
ASG Khalikov thanked Pakistan for maintaining excellent coordination with OCHA and praised the generosity of Pakistani people towards their own and others in need. Recalling his previous experience in Pakistan, he expressed hope to visit the country again and discuss ways and means to further strengthen the partnership.
